About M4Be

Music for Both Ears is the on-line presence for the music of James A. Schlesselman…

I am a composer/musician from Northern California’s Bay Area. This website serves as my main platform for communicating with you.

Hi, I just launched this site on June 20.

Enjoy!

Main places to go here:

  • About  M4Be – your here now! It explains how things work here… (navigation is in the sidebar and footer.)
  • Recent Work in Progress – Here you’ll find posts of  the freshest samples of music. Just click on  something you like and you’ll go where you can listen to and post comments about a specific piece.  It has nice pictures and a cool slider thingy…
  • Musical Offerings – a sample set of my music., changes often! Here you can just relax and listen…
  • Post Categories – (in the sidebar)  Here you can find all the posts I’ve made on this site: all work in progress is where you can find all the music posts in one spot; .news is more or less about what I’m up to currently; thoughts and musings is a place for me to put forth whatever might be on my mind; and finally, monthly archives of all posts are available in the footer…
  • Tutorials – from time to time I may have some useful information to offer, that stuff will go here…
  • Contact me - if you want to communicate with me about something specific, use the “contact me” link in the lower left of the footer.

I will be making MP3 downloads available in the future. My preference is to offer them for free, or perhaps have an option for a donation. I’ll have to think more about that. I am not really so much interested in making money off of this music. I just totally love creating it and the icing on the cake is sharing it with people like you! That is what I want to do. That feels good.

A bit about where i’m coming from

I try to write music that takes you on a journey, you start off and then you really go places. I am intrigued by the dynamic of trying to keep a balance between the unknown and the familiar. Sometimes a direction is predictable, but most of the time there is some new element coming in and keeping things fresh and lively. Emotions and energies swirling around like liquid, rising and falling like waves. The music “takes you places.” Enjoy the ride!

Most of my work is currently focused on the Contemporary Classical genre. But there will be other stuff as well.

“I want to encourage dialog with those who are interested in my music, along with discussion about “works in progress.” I think it is a unique way for people to interact with a composer as he/she is working on a piece, as well as a wonderful way to make the music I compose truly relevant and responsive to other people’s perspectives.”

So, thanks for taking some of your valuable time to read this! You are awesome and I sincerely hope you enjoy visiting Music for Both Ears!
